Ahsoka Season 1 Episode 4 - Fallen Jedi

Halfway through the series and we've been thrown a few curve balls. It also seems no matter how much it seems Ahsoka manages to get the problem solved, it slips away from her at the last minute.

This episode continues from the cliffhanger of the last where the ship is stranded and in need of repair while the droids and Shin Hati are tracking down the crashed ship. While this is happening, Morgan Elsbeth is calculating the hyperjump coordinates, if she is off by even a little bit they would be lost forever. Huyang shows off some of his fighting prowess which is enjoyable to watch, while Ahsoka engages Marrok. Sabine and Shin engage each other in a rematch. This time Sabine puts up a better fight. Ultimately. Ahsoka makes her way to the area where the map is being used to generate coordinates. She engages Baylan and is able to get ahold of the map, burning her hand in the process and weakening herself to the point that it affects her fighting ability. Sabine shows up and take the map and has the opportunity to destroy it with her blaster while Baylan overpowers Ahsoka and she falls off the cliff edge where the map is. Sabine, in a moment of weakness, decides to give the map to Baylan so that she may find Ezra,  The show ends with a beautiful tribute to Rebels as Ahsoka is between worlds again, this time with the appearance of Anakin.

Analysis

Well, Sabine yet again disappoints us. I love it. Her character is not one of a superheroine, infallible and morally untouchable. She operates from her emotions and they got the better of her yet again. Of course, it truly is a tragedy for someone like Ahsoka who keeps taking Sabine under her wing only to be betrayed and disappointed. We have a great ending with Anakin and I would presume Ahsoka is in the between worlds again, where she is saved and given another chance... of course we'll have to wait until next week's episode to know..

The hyperdrive remains, but no one knows the coordinates. However, I would guess that Huyang will be able to calculate it... somehow. Hera sort of was a failed cavalry, not sure what purpose she had in this episode other than to show off her son.

Nonetheless, a fun episode, and a gratuitous scene or two of lightsaber action always brightens the day in an otherwise drought of TV during the writers and actors strike.

Characters of interest in this episode

Commander Sabine Wren- shows her fallible features yet again as she caves into her emotions and undoes everything that Ahsoka had been trying to accomplish
Huyang, Shows off some pretty slick martial arts fighting other droids.
General Hera Syndulla - the failed cavalry leader. I'm beginning to doubt her prowess as a general.
Jacen - utters the famous line "I have a bad feeling about this."
Baylan Skoll, beats Ahsoka, but probably would not have if she didnt injure herself.
Shin Hati - apprentice of Baylan Skoll, really does a good job of portraying herself as pure evil.
Marrok - easily defeated by Ahsoka, we'll never know who he truly is, to the chagrin of fans everywhere.
Morgan Elsbeth - witch of Nightsisters of Dathomir. completes the calculations through witchcraft, to take them through hyperspace to Thrawn
Anakin Skywalker - this is of course, after he has turned back to good and is force ghost. He appears to beam a bright smile to Ahsoka.... serving to act as a cliffhanger to the episode.
