Capital Burger in Coral Gables

Having made my way to the newly opened The Capital Burger in Coral Gables, only the 4th opened in the nation (Washington DC, Boston and Reston,VA) I had memories of my The Capital Grille experience from years past with their excellent dry rubbed steaks. These burgers are made from a special secret recipe of blended meat including short rib. The decor was warm and inviting especially on a rare rainy day in Miami.

After being seated I was quickly engaged by the waiter who took my drink order and brought me complimentary house pickles which had a nice sweet flavor to them.

I ordered the deviled eggs with candied smoked bacon which was good

Although they have a good amount of selections from The Capital Grille menu, including bone in ribeye, pan-seared salmon, and filet mignon entrees, I went to a placed with "burger' as its namesake to well, have a burger. And so I ordered two, the first of which is the Capital Burger, which has French-onion style caramelized onions, Wisconsin grand gru gruyere cheese and shallot aioli with accompanying smoked gouda cheese sauce fries. The second of which is the blue cheese and black truffle burger with cabernet-braised onions with parmesan truffle fries. Both were magnificent however I liked the blue cheese and truffle burger more as it had a bit more bite to it with contrasting flavor from the blue cheese.

For my second trip, I would try either the pretzel, the pan-fried calamari or the poke nachos and the bacon cheeseburger with fresh tomato jam and an added fried egg. I would also likely have a milkshake which I was too full to have this visit.

The meal made for a filling lunch and I envision  this to be an ideal happy hour stop as they have a healthy selection of cocktails as well as "spiked" milk shakes.
