Gyu-Kaku in Pinecrest is delicious!

Twice now I've been unable to resist the all you can eat at a restaurant. Gyu-Kaku is the Japanese barbecue which resembles the recently popular Korean barbecue restaurants across the nation. Changed from the last time I went, the buffet has been extended by 3 hours to 6pm, so it now goes from 11am-6pm and you can only stay for 90 minutes. I've never had a problem filling up at this restaurant and the food is delicious! They offer 3 different options, the premium ($52), the ultimate ($62) and the supreme ($72). And while I would like to avoid large chain restaurants, I cant help but visit and write about this one which is well located in a desert of Asian barbecue options South of Flagler Street.

The dining area is classy and elegant, which I appreciate. The restaurant is a little on the colder side which takes into account the large number of open flames that generate heat when your food is being cooked at the table. The service was outstanding and the waiter kept the food coming as fast (or slow) as I was able to eat it.

I decided to get the ultimate (mid-range) option and of course, go mostly on the meat side of things. Not that the side dishes aren't good, but given the option of all I can eat beef, I can not resist!

The first thing I ordered were the Filet Mignon, Harami Skirt Steak and the Beef Tongue followed by the Garlic Fried Rice, the fried bacon, then the premium sirloin, the Toro Beef, the Umakara Ribeye, the New York Steak and the Kalibi Chuck Rib.

My favorite dishes in order of most to least favorite:

Side Dishes and Appetizers

The side dishes and appetizers I ordered were good.

The Meats

Prime Kalibi Short Rib

Premium Sirloin

Skirt Steak

Dessert

Absolutely delicious!

For dessert, I enjoyed the green tea ice cream which if you dont enjoy, Azucar ice cream shop is 5-6 stores down.

Would I recommend this place? 100% Yes.
