Lung Yai Thai Tapas

A Thai food place on 8th street in Miami, Lung Yai is a Michelin BIb Gourmand recognized restaurant in the middle of a touristy area. The restaurant has a street side cafe feel to it that you would expect to find in Asia. The food and the service is good and efficient. The restaurant does not take reservations and is usually not busy when it opens at noon on weekend but fills up pretty quickly within the hour. The staff is very helpful with portions and food suggestions when ordering and prefer you order all your food at once.

Inside

Lung Yai has a nice indoor patio area and several seats (roughly 4 tables of 2) on the sidewalk outside.

Tapas and Appetizers

The Thai iced coffee hit the spot on a warm summer (spring?) day. The waiter was sure to inform us that it is a sweeter coffee if you are not used to Thai coffee. The dumplings tasted very fresh and were delicious. The rib ends and pork belly were the perfect complement to each other.

Main Courses

I liked both of these courses and found it difficult to say which I liked more. The Khao Soi Gai reminds me of a curry noodle dish I had while traveling and the Pad See Ewe was closer to a chinese food flavor, but was definitely Thai.

Conclusion

The flavors appear genuine for Thai cuisine and the meal was enjoyable. The service was outstanding and I would be happy to return.
