Right off of US1, The Key Largo Conch House is a nice stop for tourists and locals alike as the food is delicious. I visited one day for lunch and noticed the charming exterior built into an older house with a patio area that can seat about 20 people with another 8 around the exterior of the house.
Inside
The inside has a nice Florida feel to it with warm peach colors and light tile floors.
White Tropical Tea
The White Tropical Tea was served with ice, which I asked for and used to drink it but I regretfully I think I would have enjoyed the tea more hot. It had a nice subtle taste of toasted coconut and pineapple. It was also a good 70F outside so I wanted something cool.
Conch House Sampler
This was my favorite more so than the main entree, the Conch house sampler consisting of (from left to right in the picture): lobster and conch ceviche, bacon wrapped cheddar jalapenos, cracked fried conch, conch fritters, fantailed coconut shrimp. The second picture shows the inside of the bacon wrapped jalapeno. Of these my favorite were in order of most to least: the cracked fried conch, the conch fritters, the fantail shrimp, the bacon wrapped cheddar cheese jalapeno poppers and finally the lobster and conch ceviche which tasted too heavy (and not light and refreshing).
Coconut Macadamia Mahi
A decent sandwich the fried fish dipped in egg and fried in a coconut and macademia crust was delicious as well as the pineapple salsa. The panini bun tasted a bit heavy. The house made potato chips were a treat and I would like to emphasize "house made" which really added to their taste.
Conclusion
Worth a stop. I like this place more than the Lazy Lobster. I will likely be back to try their other dishes.
