Ahsoka Season 1 Episode 8 - The Jedi, The Witch, and the Warlord
This is it! The final episode, and with strange timing the writers guild of America strike has ended and the negotiations of the sag-aftra strike continues with hope. After this episode, the finale, there will not be original TV from Hollywood for a while.
This episode wraps up storyline and plot of trying to prevent Thrall's return. The continuing journey and saga of Ahsoka an Sabine as they find Ezra and make their way to Thrall's ship in hopes of preventing him from returning. Thrall does a masterful job of being "a step ahead" of the Jedi at each turn as he strategically plans to keep Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra occupied as he makes his escape from this distant galaxy. It is a beauty to watch this aspect of the show.
From a more thrilling point of view we have a ton of action as tie-fighters are sent with the purpose of destroying Ahsoka's ship, the storm troopers are sent to slow down Ahsoka but are easily handled. This episode has the introduction of storm trooper zombies which are a fun twist. The ultimate showdown between Ahsoka and Morgan Elebeth could not have been forseen at the start of the season and was a great battle to watch.
Despite their attempts, Grand Admiral Thrall proves a brilliant strategist and manages to escape the galaxy, to return home , to the dismay of Ahsoka and Sabine. The silver lining is that Ezra also returns back. The show ends with a brilliant cliffhanger for fan fare with Annakin smiling on.

Analysis...
- There was not much resolution in this episode as much as there was setting up for a new season, which has yet to be written. However there are plenty of light saber fights in this episode which is always fun to watch.
- With the passing of Ray Stephenson after season one had completed filming, wee will never see the fight between Baylon Skoll. Although we did see Ahsoka dabble in the dark side as part of her between worlds training with Annakin.
- I thought that she would have a big blow out with Ezra over her betrayal of Ahsoka not to mention an even bigger blow out with Ahsoka over the same.
- I also thought we'd see Enoch battle and die in this episode but we didnt see that at all. We did, however, see a lot of stormtroopers die and become resurrected as zombies which was a pretty cool take.
- This planet Peridea, where Ahsoka and Sabine are stuck appears to have a lot of mystical energy about it. It could perhaps be a source of force energy.
- The cliffhanger is wonderful as we are more or less assured we'll see Annakin in the upcoming season.
Characters of interest this episode
Ahsoka - Became "the bigger Jedi" this episode by providing unconditional love and support to her padawan.
Grand Admiral Thrawn - continues to come across as a very accomplished calculating strategist. I love this character.
The Great Mothers - seem scary in their mystery, especially given their ability to raise the dead.
Enoch, captain of the Guard - did not have a large role in this episode.
Commander Sabine Wren - seems to be learning and being able to use the force more and possibly becoming more level-headed.
Huyang - My favorite supporting character. Handy man extraordinaire, not only helps Ezra build a light saber but also fixes their ship.
General Baylan Skoll - very disciplined and seems to hear a calling from the Force on the planet of Peridea, he is definitely in search of a greater voice.
Shin Hati - apprentice of Baylan Skoll, does not have a large role in this episode, other than to show her aligning with the planet bandits.
Morgan Elsbeth - extremely loyal to Grand Admiral Thrawn, is rewarded as she appears to become a great mother. she has the grand finale battle with Ahsoka.
Ezra Badger - finally gets his comeuppance and returns home.
Answered questions...
- Will all be forgiven with Sabine and will she continue her training?
Yes!
- Will we see Anakin again as a force ghost?
Yes!
Lingering questions...
- Once they get to Thrawn, how exactly will they get back? Is there another hyperloop ring at the other end? will they just jump on the back of a star whale?
- Will Jacen be trained to home his use of the force?
- What is so special about Peridea that Baylan Skoll was willing to just stay behind?
- Will Ahsoka discover the secret of Peridea that Baylan was searching for? Is this the purpose of Annakin's force ghost appearing? To guide her to this purpose?
