Ahsoka Season 1 Episode 5 - Shadow Warrior
Only three episodes left. Most of the episode centers around Ahsoka continuing her training via light saber combat with Anakin Skywalker. We get an adorable view of young Ahsoka polishing her combat skills during the clone wars. We also get a beautiful view of Anakin using the dark side of the force and showing Ahsoka how to defend against it. After this training while she is near death, she is rescued by General Hera Syndulla and her son, Jacen. General Syndull and company then stall the new empire ships so that Ahsoka can communicate with the star whales before hyperspace jumping to a new galaxy. The show ends with Ahsoka and Huyang inside a star whale in pursuit of Baylon Skoll and Sabine Wren across galaxies.
This week we get some beautiful fan fare as Anakin wields both the light and dark side of the force in training Ahsoka. We get to see some clone war shots and young adorable Ahsoka who acts much different than the more mature Ahsoka we are presented with in the show. All in all a beautiful episode with lots of fanfare.
Analysis
- Lots of well appreciated fanfare in this episode as you really get a deeper view into the relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin. You see that Ahsoka does deeply care for Anakin despite knowing who he is and who he became. She appreciates that he is a part of her and that the generations of training and Jedi legacy are within her.
- This episode also shows the purpose of the star whales
- General Syndulla and Jacen came to Seatos so that they can save Ashoka
- There has been a light saber fight in every episode so far this season.
Characters of interest in this episode
Ahsoka - despite being described as "old" by Anakin, her character further develops as she gains wisdom through her force training and she seems more at peace after her near brush with death.
Anakin Skywalker - uses both light and dark sides of the force to train Ahsoka so that she can likely deal with the heavy strikes from Baylan Skoll in a future episode.
Huyang - Great delivery of the answer "no" to Jacen. My favorite supporting character in the series.
General Hera Syndulla - the failed cavalry leader. I'm beginning to doubt her prowess as a general.
Jacen - displays a strong use of the force so that Syndulla can find Ahsoka. He likely will be trained to use the force.
Commander Sabine Wren- Ahsoka's padawan, not in this episode.
Baylan Skoll - not in this episode.
Shin Hati - apprentice of Baylan Skoll, not in this episode.
Morgan Elsbeth - witch of Nightsisters of Dathomir. Not in this episode.
Lingering questions...
- Once they get to Thrawn, how exactly will they get back? Is there another hyperloop ring at the other end? will they just jump on the back of a star whale?
- Will Jacen be trained to home his use of the force?
- Will all be forgiven with Sabine and will she continue her training?
- Will we find Ezra?
