My latest foray into Michelin star restaurants is at the Surf Club on the northern end of Miami Beach. It was opened in 2018 and is located at the bottom of the Four Seasons Hotel and is owned by Thomas Keller, owner of the three Michelin star restaurant in Yountville, California (roughly 65 miles NE of San Francisco) called the French Laundry. This restaurant is his foray and sort of a return home as he grew up and spent his youth in Miami.

Interior

The restaurant is classy and the interior speaks to it. Warm wood in a subdued hue represent the dining room.

Perfectly prepared, deviled eggs. There are what they are supposed to taste like. No exotic flavors, pure classic taste.

Surf Club Beef Wellington

Flawlessly executed beef wellington. The twist on this variation uses braised short rib with duxelle consisting of spinach and black truffle wrapped in a crepe, prior to being cooked in the pastry.

Conclusion

When you think of a Michelin one star restaurant you think of consistency and true representation of the classic flavors. The Surf Club delivers on this and in a welcoming environment with good service and professionalism. I would like to return to try some of their other dishes, such as the Lobster Thermidor and European Sea Bass.
