The Taurus in Coconut Grove

A favorite watering hole for locals with a good trivia night on Tuesdays and open mic comedy night on Thursdays, The Taurus has been around along time. With a menu that rotates ever so often, the pub/bar is from the team that operates Ariete, Chugs Diner, and others in the area. I could easily see myself frequenting this area after work for a wind down cocktail to relax before heading home. The crowd is always interesting, on the night I went out of town Boston fans were watching the Celtic and 76ers game in true loud Boston fan style, a work office party was taking place in the corner and another couple were having their dinner date in another corner.

The comedy nights and trivia nights start around 8pm on weeknights. The food is on the comforting bar/grill side of things and quite delicious. During my visit I had a few drinks as well as the meatball snack with toast topped with pomodoro, whipped ricotta and parmesan. For dinner I had the "25 or 6 to 4" burger consisting of a double cheese burger, short rib "italian beef", giardiniera and garlic aioli which was also delicious.

I would recommend this bar for a stop for any casual occasion.
